Y Meindŷ
Victorian corner pub on North Road in Gabalfa, reopened in April 2026 as Y Meindŷ on the site of the former North Star, with live music and live sport.
About this venue
Y Meindŷ is a converted Victorian pub at 131 North Road, on the edge of Bute Park and Blackweir in north Cardiff. Licensed since 1888, the building has traded under several names — the Maindy Hotel, the College Tavern and, from 2020 to 2025, the North Star.
After the North Star closed at the end of 2025, the pub reopened under new management as Y Meindŷ on 3 April 2026. CAMRA lists it as open, with live music among its facilities, and it also shows live sport.
