African Caribbean Centre Liverpool

The African Caribbean Centre is a community centre and event space at 1 Amberley Street in Toxteth, Liverpool 8. It hosts club nights, festival after-parties and community events, and is hired for private functions. Liverpool City Council's public register records an active premises licence for the building, LA051530, of indefinite duration and effective since 24 January 2012.

Its best-documented programming is as an official after-party venue for Africa Oye, the free African and Caribbean music festival held each June in Sefton Park. The festival's own announcements name 1 Amberley Street as one of a small number of official after-party venues, running from 9pm to 3am with Afrobeats DJs and MCs; proceeds from the after-parties go towards the following year's festival. Club nights and after-parties here are otherwise Afro-Caribbean in character.

The building carries more than one name. OpenStreetMap, the local directory listings and Liverpool City Council's licensing register call it the Merseyside Caribbean Centre or Merseyside Caribbean Community Centre; Africa Oye and the charity register call it the African Caribbean Heritage Centre; and event listings on Skiddle and Resident Advisor have used both "African Caribbean Centre Liverpool" and "Liverpool African Caribbean Centre", which is why the directory once held two records. No guest capacity is published, so no bookable space is recorded here.
