About this venue
Albert Park is a public park of almost 30 hectares on the edge of Middlesbrough town centre, opened in 1868 as "The People's Park". It has a central tree-lined avenue, a bandstand, a lake with a visitor centre and cafe, a roller skating rink, tennis courts, bowling greens and play areas, with the Dorman Museum at one of its entrances.
The park is run by Middlesbrough Council and is used for large outdoor events. It hosts the Middlesbrough Mela every year, a free two-day cultural festival of music, dance, art and food that draws more than 50,000 people, as well as weekly parkrun and seasonal family activities. Gates open daily 7:30am to 8pm, and there is free parking at the Albert Park car park near the visitor centre.
