About this venue

Arktisk kultursenter, known locally as AKS, opened in 2008 as the cultural meeting place for Hammerfest and the surrounding region of Finnmark. It stands on Strandgata by the harbour. Ole Olsen-salen is the main auditorium, seating 287 on the floor with a further 54 in the balcony. Frityren is the smaller hall, taking up to 145. Frysa is an outdoor stage, and Galleri Fileen doubles as an exhibition space and a room for small courses and simple conference programmes. The foyer seats 200 for dining and gatherings and holds the kiosk and wine bar. During the daytime the building also houses the municipal culture school. The house programmes concerts, theatre and touring productions alongside meetings, exhibitions and conferences.
