About this venue

The Assembly Rooms is a category A-listed Georgian building on George Street in Edinburgh's New Town, opened in 1787 and refurbished in 2011-12. Originally a meeting place for social gatherings, it is now a multi-purpose events venue used for concerts, conferences, dinners, balls, ceilidhs, weddings and exhibitions, and is a major Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Hogmanay venue.

It is operated by Culture Edinburgh on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council. The two principal rooms are the Music Hall and the Ballroom, supported by the Crush Hall, East and West Drawing Rooms, the Under Balcony Bar and the Oval Room.
