About this venue

The Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe is a three-division state theatre presenting opera, ballet and drama with its resident companies. The main building on Hermann-Levi-Platz was built from 1970 to 1975; its Großes Haus opened on 29 August 1975 and its Kleines Haus on 27 September 1975. It is also home to the annual Händel-Festspiele Karlsruhe. Besides the two main auditoriums, the state service portal lists flexible performance spaces in the lower and middle foyers and a rehearsal stage, plus the former Zimmertheater "Insel" as an additional stage.
