About this venue
Bærum Kulturhus is a municipal operation in Sandvika that programmes and runs several buildings at once. The main house on Claude Monets allé holds Store Sal, Underhuset and Foajéscenen; Sandvika Teater and Lille Scene are separate venues under the same management.
Store Sal is the principal auditorium, seating 530 in an amphitheatre or 210 at tables. Underhuset is the flexible lower room, taking 120 on amphitheatre seating and loose chairs or 130 at tables. Foajéscenen seats 130 cinema-style or 100 at tables, with the lower foyer holding a further 200 at tables. Sandvika Teater seats 300 in an amphitheatre, and Lille Scene 90.
Alongside its concert, theatre and dance programme the house runs Dans Sørøst-Norge, a state-supported competence centre for dance, and hires its rooms out for conferences and events. Its stated aim is to develop and present a broad and inspiring cultural programme for everyone in the municipality.
