About this venue

Bakgården kultur opened in September 2023 in Strandgata, in the centre of Mosjøen across from the town square, and is privately owned and run. It has staged more than 150 cultural events since opening. The concert hall covers 210 m² and takes about 250 standing, roughly 190 seated cinema-style, or around 130 at café tables. Behind it are a 45 m² rehearsal and backstage room and an artist dressing room with a shower; front of house there is a foyer and bar, an outdoor courtyard with seating, plus toilets and storage. The room is rigged with professional sound, lighting and projection, and — unusually for a venue this size — a Yamaha AFC4 active acoustic system, which lets it work as well for unamplified acoustic performance as for amplified shows. The programme covers concerts, stand-up, theatre, revues and lectures, a monthly community sing-along evening, and free music activities for young people. The hall is also hired out for courses and conferences. Tickets are sold online or at the bar, which opens an hour before events.
