Blitz

Blitz has occupied Pilestredet 30C since 1982, and the house — a squat later legalised — is one of the oldest autonomous youth centres still running in Europe. It is self-managed and has long been a centre of anarchist and left-wing activism in Norway. The concert hall puts on one to two shows a week, drawn from the underground: ska, hardcore punk and hip hop make up the core of what the house programmes and what its rehearsal rooms and sound studio exist to support. Alongside the concert space the building holds a vegan café, an infoshop, musicians' rehearsal rooms, and the feminist radio station radiOrakel, and hosts political meetings.
