About this venue

Bristol Beacon is the city's principal concert hall, on Trenchard Street in the city centre. Known as Colston Hall until it was renamed in 2020, it reopened in November 2023 after a major refurbishment.

It presents rock, pop, jazz, folk, world and classical music, and hires out four spaces: Beacon Hall, the Lantern Hall, the Cellars and Bridgehouse.

The Spaces

Beacon Hall

Main hall

Capacity

Standing
up to 2,100
Seated
up to 1,650

Operator's hire page gives "Standing with seats in tiers: 2,100", "Seated: 1,650" and "Stalls seating: 800". The venue-hire index page states capacities "ranging from 2 to 2,000 people", which does not match the 2,100 figure on the hall's own page.

Lantern Hall

Second hall

Capacity

Standing
up to 450
Seated
up to 270
Cabaret
up to 150

Operator's hire page: "Seating for up to 270, standing 450, cabaret 150".

The Cellars

Cellars

Capacity

Standing
up to 150
Seated
up to 120

Operator's hire page: "Standing for 150, seating between 40 - 120". The seated figure recorded is the top of that range.

Bridgehouse

Entrance hall

Capacity

Standing
up to 2,000

Operator's hire page: "Standing: 2000, Exhibitors up to 60". The exhibitor figure has no equivalent layout key and is recorded here in the source's own words.

Technical and venue information is available directly from the venue.
