About this venue

The Bristol Megascreen is a 300-seat auditorium inside Bristol Aquarium on Anchor Road, on the city's harbourside. It opened in 2000 as the Bristol IMAX, part of the Wildwalk and At-Bristol complex, and stopped regular film programming in the 2010s.

The aquarium has since restored it with the city's film community: it has Dolby surround sound, a re-lensed Christie projector and a screen of about 19 by 15 metres, said to be the second largest in the South West. It is the home of the Forbidden Worlds Film Festival and is available for hire for screenings, launches and other events.

The Forbidden Worlds Film Festival's venue page describes "the 300 seater auditorium" with a 19x15m screen. The aquarium's own site was unreachable (HTTP 403), so this is the festival's figure, not the operator's.

Technical and venue information is available directly from the venue.
