About this venue

Cardiff Castle (Castell Caerdydd) is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion in the centre of Cardiff, set in grounds beside Bute Park. Its interiors were remodelled for the 3rd Marquess of Bute by the architect William Burges.

Three spaces are hired out for events: the Guest Tower Rooms, a self-contained suite of the Oak Room and Walnut Room at the top of one of the towers; the 15th-century Undercroft, a stone-vaulted hall with its own private bar and reception area; and the Banqueting Hall, the largest room in the castle, reached by the Octagon Staircase from the Library and Drawing Room where drinks receptions are served.

The castle also runs a programme of family events, summer concerts and indoor and outdoor cinema screenings in the grounds; no capacity is published for outdoor events.

The Undercroft

A 15th-century stone-vaulted hall, once the Servants' Hall, with its own private bar and reception area. One of the oldest parts of the castle.
