About this venue
Cardiff Students' Union (Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd) is the students' union of Cardiff University, on Park Place in Cathays. The purpose-built building runs 24 hours a day and houses bars, cafes, shops and two live music halls, and is one of the city's longest-standing gig venues.
The Great Hall, on the Senghennydd Road side of the building, is the Union's largest room at 1,500 capacity and one of the oldest live music venues in Cardiff. Y Plas, reached from the Park Place steps, holds 1,000 to 1,200 for live music and is the home of the weekly YOLO club night, which takes over Y Plas plus two adjoining rooms. The building is also hired out for conferences, exhibitions, awards ceremonies and dinners, with in-house AV, catering and technical staff.

Reached via the steps at the front of the Union on Park Place. One large bar in the main room, a smaller bar on the mezzanine balcony and two bars in adjoining rooms, plus a cloakroom. Clubnights use Y Plas together with two further rooms.
