Carnegie Oldpark
CLOSED FOR RESTORATION. The 1906 Carnegie library on the Oldpark Road is being converted into a weaving centre and community space; no reopening date has been announced.
About this venue
Carnegie Oldpark is a Tudor-style library building of 1906 on the Oldpark Road in north Belfast, funded by Andrew Carnegie. It closed as a library in 2010.
Its owners describe it as "in the middle of a restoration project to bring the building back to life", transforming it into "a vibrant weaving centre to acknowledge Belfast's weaving legacy and Andrew Carnegie's weaving background, while also offering space for community use". It is not open for general public use; heritage open days and hard-hat tours have been run during the works. No reopening date has been announced.
