Charlton Kings Social Club

The Charlton Kings Social Club occupies a clubhouse on Church Street in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, whose foundation stone was laid in May 1888 and which opened that December. It traded as the Charlton Kings Working Men's Club and Institute until 2000. The club has around 1,800 members and welcomes new ones. There are a lounge, a sports bar with Sky and TNT Sports, pool and darts, two full-size snooker tables and a skittle alley used by league teams. Live bands play in the lounge every Saturday night from 9pm, with entry free to members and a small charge for guests. Upstairs, the Vonnies Blues Club presents blues and jazz acts monthly from September to June; past performers include Paul Jones, Long John Baldry and Chris Farlowe. The club also runs quiz, poker and bingo nights. The first-floor function room has its own fully stocked bar with real ales and holds up to 100 guests. Members can hire it per session, bar staff included, and the club can arrange DJs, entertainment and catering. The skittle alley doubles as a function room for up to 60, suited to children's parties and christenings, and hot and cold buffets can be arranged.
