Cobalt Studios

Cobalt Studios is an artist-built, not-for-profit music, arts and culture venue at 10-16 Boyd Street in Shieldfield, on the edge of Newcastle's Ouseburn valley. It provides affordable studios alongside a community-driven event space, and is run as a community interest company.

Its programme runs in seasons rather than continuously, and deliberately favours the experimental: world music, new music, folk and alt-folk, women in music, young musicians and work that blurs boundaries, plus club nights, yard parties, exhibitions and open studios. Recent bills have ranged from Samba Touré to Bill Brewster.
