About this venue

Darley Park is a large, picturesque public park on the River Derwent within walking distance of Derby city centre, at the gateway to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. It is run by Derby City Council and has gardens, including a hydrangea collection, a nature reserve, sports facilities and tennis courts, a playground, a tea room and four free car parks. The park hosts events through the year. Its best-known fixture is the Darley Park Concert, an open-air evening of orchestral music and film favourites held each August as part of the council's Darley Park Weekender, which has also included outdoor film screenings and an orchestral dance-music night. Outdoor events in the city's parks and open spaces are hired through Derby City Council's space hire team, which handles festivals, performances, markets, sporting events and similar bookings. Darley Barn, a separate hireable building within the park, is run by the council for schools, groups and parties.
