About this venue

Deichman Bjørvika is the main branch of Oslo's public library, on Anne-Cath. Vestlys plass beside the central station. Its six floors hold the collections, newspapers and magazines, reading and study places, meeting rooms, a games room, art and exhibitions, and workshops for all ages, with the restaurant Centropa and the café Kaffoteket at ground level. As a venue it is busier than the word "library" suggests: around a hundred external conferences and events a year, from international congresses and televised political debates to breakfast meetings and poetry evenings. Deichmansalen is the main room, a fixed amphitheatre for 150 fitted out for lectures, presentations, debates and cultural events, with sound, light and image technology and technicians available for demanding productions including hybrid meetings, streaming, concerts and theatre. There is also an auditorium for 200 with a bar that opens for events, and a cinema in the basement. Modern meeting rooms for four to 28 people are hired out during the day.
