Der Anker

Der Anker is a sociocultural centre in north-west Leipzig, run by ANKER e.V. It started in the late 19th century as the Goldener Anker, an inn with a ball and concert hall. In the 1950s the city took it over as a youth club. After a four-year renovation and extension, the hall reopened in 2018. It programmes concerts by local newcomers and established German and international bands, plus music festivals and theatre. It also runs courses and workshops for all ages, especially children and young people.
