About this venue
Derby Market Place is the open square at the heart of the city's Cathedral Quarter, a few minutes' walk from the bus station and flanked by the Guildhall Theatre and QUAD. It hosts city-wide celebrations such as Derby Festé and Derby Caribbean Carnival, festive events including the Christmas Lights Switch-On and the Derby Christmas Ice Rink, specialist markets, arts and craft fairs and funfairs. Derby's Speakers' Corner sits behind the Waterfall feature on the square.
The Market Place is let by Derby LIVE, the city council's venues and events service, either as a whole or broken down into smaller sites shown on a downloadable site plan. Derby LIVE gives a standing capacity of 1,500 with no infrastructure. Enquiries go to the Derby LIVE Space Hire team.
