About this venue
Desi is a community-run neighbourhood centre (Stadtteilzentrum Desi e.V.) that describes itself as a centre, club and pub for contemporary culture since 1978. A volunteer group plans concerts, club nights, parties and theatre across three performance spaces: a main concert hall, the Desi bar and an outdoor stage. The programme ranges from poetry slams and bar DJ nights to live concerts of dancehall, dub, reggae, electro and singer-songwriter music, as well as punk and hardcore tours and the annual Bunker Rituals festival of post-punk, darkwave and synth acts.
Alongside the events the centre runs a pub with food, a weekly Küche für Alle community kitchen, a bicycle workshop and a beer garden. The venue states that it is wheelchair accessible and barrier-free.
