About this venue
Eskilstuna Teater, designed by architect Ebbe Croné, opened in September 1925 and is the city's established stage for theatre. The gently sloping auditorium has 414 seats and a small balcony, and has kept its older charm; the layout gives close contact between actors and audience. The foyer is large, with a cloakroom and kiosk, and a cafe serves in the intervals on three levels. The stage is 15.1 m wide and 10.9 m deep, with a normal opening of 7.5 m and a height of 12.5 m. A sound system and a standard lighting rig with a smoke machine are included in the booking. The house is used by the Riksteatern touring programme through the local theatre society, by local theatre groups and the New Year revue, and for guest performances and concerts. Hire goes through the municipal scenes office, and a viewing of the house can be arranged.
