About this venue

Fiskepiren stands at the gateway to Stavanger city centre, on the quay long known as Nye Fisketorv — a name in use as early as the 1880s, when much of the city's fish trade happened here and the quay was later rebuilt for the growing canning industry, busy every season as the boats came in with their crates of brisling. The outer pier that houses the venue was laid in 2000, and Brandsberg-Dahls arkitekter drew the terminal building in 2001 as a waiting hall for ferry passengers with bedsits and service rooms for the crews. For twenty years it served as the waiting room for the city's ferries and fast boats before being converted into a concert stage and conference centre; the reuse was nominated for Stavanger's Byggeskikkpris in 2024. The main hall takes 1,400 standing, 600 in cinema rows, 700 at long tables or 550 at round tables, with a mezzanine looking down on the stage. The house has a substantial lighting and sound inventory, publishes a full technical specification and works with partners across price ranges; its team handles project management for events from conferences and Christmas dinners to concerts and private functions. Access is step-free through the main entrance, with a lift between the main floor and the mezzanine and accessible toilets on both levels. During concerts the mezzanine is set with chairs along the railing for guests who cannot stand for long, looking out over the stage; these are not personally reservable. Companion cards are accepted and the companion goes free. Under-18s can attend some concerts with a guardian and a guardian agreement, and the venue runs SPIRE, its own under-18 series. The programme is broad — recent bills include Sirenia with Gothminister, Leprous, Vamp, Dave Hill's Slade, Stage Dolls, Susanne Sundfør, Kamelen, Golf, Reform94 and Ballinciaga.
