About this venue

Fjæreheia is an open-air amphitheatre built into a former granite quarry ("Bruddet") near Grimstad, ringed by granite cliff walls roughly 40 metres high. Summer performances have been held here since 1993; the venue was expanded and modernised in 1999 and formally linked to what is now Kilden Teater (previously Agder Teater). Inspired by ancient Greek amphitheatres, the seating wraps intimately around the stage for an audience of up to 1,000, hosting theatre, musicals, comedy and concerts, including performances by the Norwegian country-rock band Hellbillies.
