Gosforth Central Park
Seven-acre public park in Gosforth, used for outdoor events including a monthly Urban Park Market and open-air cinema.
About this venue
Gosforth Central Park is a seven-acre public park north of Newcastle city centre, opened on 6 August 1932. It has a play area, tennis and basketball courts, a bowling club and large informal grassed areas, with more than 200 trees and lime-lined pathways.
The park is used as an outdoor event site: the Urban Park Market runs on the last Saturday of most months, and the park has hosted open-air cinema and community celebrations. Its original pavilion has been brought back into use as Mushroom Works, a creative space.
The park is owned by Newcastle City Council. It was managed on the council's behalf by the charity Urban Green Newcastle until Urban Green ceased operations on 28 February 2025, when this and the city's other parks reverted to the council.
