About this venue
Gråtenmoen bydelshus is one of the two neighbourhood houses run by Skien municipality under the name Bydelshusene i Skien, a meeting place for people of all ages. It programmes a varied cultural season — concerts, book launches, lectures, the Fredagssalongen midday talks series, a Wednesday quiz and themed evenings — alongside courses, clubs and workshops in languages, games, bridge, reading and a range of crafts. Users of the workshops pay a small subscription each half-year towards the running of the rooms.
The house has a stage with technical equipment, a café that takes 50 for confirmations, christenings and other functions, and meeting rooms of various sizes for up to 20. It holds a licence to serve alcohol, so guests may not bring their own to a hire. The kitchen has its own chefs and serves a weekday menu.
The building is step-free, with accessible toilets, wheelchair spaces, a hearing loop in the salong and good signage. There are five accessible parking spaces at the building and a car park 150 metres away; bus line M2 stops 200 metres off at Tuftebygget. Bydelshusene accept the Norwegian companion card at all their events.
Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 11:00–18:00 and Friday 11:00–15:00.
