About this venue

The Guildhall has stood at the heart of Derry since 1890. Run by Derry City and Strabane District Council, it houses the Council chamber and the Mayor's Parlour, and is open to visitors for guided tours, its stained glass windows, the Plantation of Ulster exhibition, the John Hume Peace Prize exhibition, the main hall and organ, and Café Guild. The refurbished building is let for conferences, events, corporate hire, receptions and civil ceremonies. The Main Hall holds up to 600 standing or 400 seated, and the Whittaker Suite takes up to 60 for meetings, functions and ceremonies, with further rooms for preparation and break-out. The council states that all spaces have sound, audio and lighting technology. The Main Hall is also a regular concert room, with touring rock, folk and pop acts on its programme. Bookings go through Guildhall Reservations.
