About this venue

The Günther-Klotz-Anlage, known locally as the "Klotze", is a public park in south-west Karlsruhe along the river Alb, between Grünwinkel, Mühlburg, the Weststadt, the Südweststadt and Beiertheim-Bulach. It is named after the former mayor Günther Klotz and was planned in the 1970s on a 47.5-hectare site as a recreation area, with boating lakes, a restaurant, playgrounds, sports equipment and a nature trail along the Alb. Since 1985 the park has hosted DAS FEST, which draws up to 260,000 visitors of all ages each year on the last weekend before the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays in late July. Its stages include the Hauptbühne at "Mount Klotz", the Feldbühne and the Kulturbühne, and more than 70 percent of the programme is free. Past acts include Simple Minds, Beatsteaks, Die Fantastischen Vier, Gentleman and Ska-P. The 2027 edition is set for 22 to 25 July 2027.
