About this venue
Halden bibliotek traces its roots to the reading societies of the 1830s, inspired by figures such as Henrik Wergeland, Marcus Thrane and Eilert Sundt, and celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2026. Today the library combines its book collections with a busy events programme: a Makerspace and "Mikroklubben" activities, extended self-service "Meråpent" hours, five free meeting rooms available for public use, a curated "Haldenhylla" shelf of local favourites, and participation in the national "Sommerles" summer reading campaign for children.
