About this venue
The HebelHalle is the home stage of the UnterwegsTheater, founded in 1988 and a pioneer of independent contemporary dance in the Rhine-Neckar region, which has run its own venue here since 2010. The 800 sq m hall, 7.5 m high, has a performing area of about 15 m by 15 m with a black dance floor and black drapes, a tribune of 266 seats and a foyer; the house holds cultural events for up to 500 people.
The programme covers contemporary dance (the TANZInternational guest series, the Tanzbiennale Heidelberg), new circus and variety (Art y Circ), clowning and music theatre, plus the company's own productions. The building also has the Sousol, a basement exhibition and event space, the CC2 training room and the PARKhaus rehearsal room, all let for events. A Yamaha C3 grand piano, an upright piano, a projector and the house lighting and sound can be hired. Parking is behind the building; the nearest stop is Rudolf-Diesel-Straße.
