About this venue

Hellraiser is a live club at Werkstättenstraße 4 in Engelsdorf, on the eastern edge of Leipzig, devoted mainly to metal and heavy rock. It was founded in 1992 and reopened at its present, larger site in 1999. The club has a main concert hall, whose walls carry scene murals by Wito Apitzsch, and a smaller hall next door that takes smaller shows and after-show parties (around 160 guests, per a 2025 concert review). The adjoining outdoor beer garden, the Stahlgarten, has also been used for open-air events such as the Electronic Infernal Summer Open Air. It books touring and underground bands across metal, rock and dark electronic music: recent and announced shows include Steel Panther, Death to All, Mortiis, Tanzwut, The New Roses, Aesthetic Perfection, Dominum and Delain (February 2027), plus multi-band events such as the Black Metal Howling Festival.
