About this venue
The Hemingway Lounge on Uhlandstraße in the Weststadt was founded in 2008 and has become a fixed part of Karlsruhe's cultural scene. Its club-like room, with a concert grand piano, a bar area and a familiar atmosphere, recalls classic jazz clubs and seats around 65. Since 2016 the programme has been run by the non-profit association KlangKunst in der Hemingway Lounge e.V., which also stages concerts at larger venues around the city.
The focus is jazz, with occasional classical concerts: series such as "Jazz Wanted", "Jazz History" and "Chamber Jazz", BarJazz evenings, jam sessions, touring bands such as its New York Jazz Weekends, the Saturday-morning "jazz and classic market" and the talk series "music, life et cetera". Seating is unreserved; tickets are sold online and at the door.
