About this venue
House of Possibilitas is an independent cultural centre in the former Backa Folkets Hus at Granåsgatan 2 in Hisings Backa, about 15 minutes by bus from central Gothenburg. The production platform Possibilitas moved in in spring 2022 to create a cultural house for southern Hisingen; the building has hosted gatherings since 1924 and once held the Rex cinema. The house offers rehearsal rooms for dance and theatre, meeting rooms, studios and offices, and stages public events: performances, talks and film screenings. The main hall, Stora salen, on the ground floor has a stage, balcony, film screen, projection room and grand piano, with a seated audience of up to 130 plus 28 on the balcony; mirrors on wheels and a dance floor are available. The Studio upstairs takes up to 50 people (9.3 x 7.5 m, ceiling 3.25 m) and can be used as a black box. There are also meeting rooms for 6-8 people, a café for about 30, a kitchen, and a lift and ramp. The house is alcohol- and drug-free and cannot be rented for private or association parties, or for political or religious meetings. Bookings are made through the website's form.
