About this venue

The Jakobus-Theater was founded in 1972 as the theatre group of the Jakobusgemeinde in Karlsruhe and has grown into an established amateur theatre of high standard. After moving into the Theaterhaus on Kaiserallee by the Mühlburger Tor, it built its own professionally equipped stage there while keeping an intimate character. Everything from ticketing to set building and acting is done by volunteers. The Theaterhaus Karlsruhe hosts three independent theatres under one roof: the Jakobus-Theater, the marotte Figurentheater and DAS SANDKORN, each with its own identity and programme. The Jakobus-Theater's bar opens half an hour before each performance, and its rooms are air-conditioned. Recent productions include Tennessee Williams' "Die Glasmenagerie".
