Kilden teater og konserthus
Southern Norway's performing arts centre on Odderøya in Kristiansand, opened in 2012 behind its landmark oak wave facade. Four halls — a 1,031-seat concert hall, a 653-seat theatre and opera hall with orchestra pit, the flexible 220-capacity Multisalen and the 100-seat Intimsalen black box — house Kilden Teater, Kilden Opera and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.

About this venue
Kilden teater og konserthus opened on 6 January 2012 on the Odderøya waterfront in Kristiansand, designed by ALA Architects of Finland with SMS Arkitekter. Its 16,000 m2 are best known for the great oak wave that curls out over the quayside, and the building cost around 1.7 billion kroner. It was conceived as something no Norwegian institution had attempted before: a theatre, an opera company, a symphony orchestra and a presenting venue sharing one house. Kilden Teater, Kilden Opera and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra are all resident.
Konsertsalen seats 1,031 and was built with modern acoustic technology as one of Scandinavia's finest acoustic rooms; it takes symphonic and chamber concerts as well as touring artists. Teater- og operasalen seats 653 and has a retractable orchestra pit, sized for around 60 musicians, for drama, musicals and opera.
The two smaller rooms are the working spaces. Multisalen holds about 220 with its retractable amphitheatre — some 400 standing when the seating is folded away — and is used for anything that needs a flexible floor. Intimsalen is a black box for 100, where audience and stage can be arranged however the piece needs.
The house also works as a conference centre, and the foyers and halls are hired out for congresses and events alongside the artistic programme.
