About this venue
The Klapsmühl' am Rathaus, 'die Mannheimer Kleinkunstbühne', was founded in 1982 by members of the Kabarett Dusche and is now in its 44th season, playing on about 240 days a year to more than 800,000 visitors so far. Dieter Hildebrandt, Harald Schmidt, Dieter Nuhr, Mathias Richling, Bülent Ceylan, Georg Kreisler and Vince Ebert are among those who have appeared. The house ensemble Dusche performs political cabaret, with a new programme each year (the 54th, 'Hurra, wir stören noch!', in 2026/2027), and the theatre's own ensemble stages productions such as a traditional summer comedy. The programme mixes cabaret, comedy, music comedy, readings, a comedy slam, big bands and the mini-festival 'Kabarett statt Konfetti' in the week before Rosenmontag. The audience sits at small round bistro tables for four to eight, with drinks and snacks served. The theatre is in the D6 block (a Quadrate reference) behind the city hall; parking is in the D5 garage opposite.
