About this venue
The Kulturladen Röthenbach opened on 8 November 1985 after years of campaigning by a local citizens' initiative for a place of culture and meeting in the south-west of Nürnberg. It is one of the city's Kulturläden run by the Amt für Kultur und Freizeit, housed in a lovingly restored former schoolhouse with a tower clock heard across the district. It is home to clubs, groups and initiatives and presents a small, select cultural programme, with exhibitions and a Kulturcafé. This is the Röthenbach district of Nürnberg, not the town of Röthenbach an der Pegnitz.
Rooms are let for regular group meetings and events, from a 70 m² events room with an adjoining catering area to workshop and exercise rooms and a 16 m² group room; requests go through an online form at least four weeks ahead, and rooms are available on Saturdays only from 2.30pm. The listed building is not barrier-free: there are steps at the entrance and inside and no accessible toilet, though wheelchair places can be arranged in advance. The Kulturladen is closed in the Bavarian school holidays.
