About this venue

The Kulturpalast occupies the Tattersall, an indoor riding arena built in 1905 by the architect Albert Wolff and converted by the city into a community centre by 1982. Its 400 m² hall under the open, free-span roof truss holds 280 people. The non-profit association Kultur im Palast e.V., founded in the early 2000s, runs it as a socio-cultural centre: its events area hosts concerts, parties, readings and theatre, and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons it offers open youth work for children and young people from the Bergkirchenviertel. After five years the Kulturpalast has reopened, with a current programme of concerts and club nights. The hall is also used by clubs, especially in the carnival season, and is let by the city as the Bürgersaal Tattersall. Bus 1 towards Nerotal stops at Kochbrunnen, about three minutes' walk away.
