About this venue

The Kurfürstliches Schloss is the former palace of the Electors of Mainz, one of the last major buildings of the German Renaissance style, on the Rhine side of the old town. Its exterior was faithfully restored after wartime destruction, while the interior was rebuilt for practical use. The north wing holds the Akademiesaal event hall, home since 1973 of the televised carnival session "Mainz bleibt Mainz, wie es singt und lacht". The palace is marketed by mainzplus Citymarketing GmbH as a conference and event venue, and concerts take place in its Großer Saal, with dates listed in December 2026 and April 2027.
