Live Theatre is a producing theatre and new-writing company on Broad Chare, next to the Law Courts just off Newcastle's Quayside. It occupies a restored and converted complex of five Grade II listed buildings and has been one of the North East's principal homes for new plays since the 1970s.
There are two performance spaces. The main Theatre seats up to 170 and can be set either in traditional rows with a first-floor balcony or in cabaret style with tables, and it includes four wheelchair spaces. The Studio on the third floor takes up to 60 in rows or 40 cabaret. The building also holds rehearsal rooms, writers' rooms, a cafe and bar, and the gastropub The Broad Chare, and the spaces are available for hire alongside the theatre's own programme.
