About this venue
Lokomotivet is Eskilstuna municipality's culture arena in Munktellstaden, housed in the A-workshop (axle workshop) built in 1917 for Munktells Mekaniska Verkstad. It is a single-storey building with a domed roof, and the deep, narrow hall keeps its raw industrial character. The venue is set up first of all for music events, but lectures, meetings, stand-up, theatre, trade fairs and banquets also work well. The large setup takes 739 seated or 1,260 standing (1,000 on the floor and 260 on the balcony); the small setup takes 459 or 450 seated, or 500 standing. A standard sound and lighting system is included in the booking, and a projector can be booked separately. A bar and cafe are in the building, restaurant P-2 shares the premises, and the 333-space Munktell car park is next door. Organisers book through the municipal rentals office, and the price is given by the booking manager.
