Malmö Stadsteater

Malmö Stadsteater is Malmö's city theatre, with its main house in Hippodromen at Kalendegatan 12c, near the central station: a circus palace from 1899 that became a church from 1950 to 1989, was reopened as a theatre in 1994 and was rebuilt between 2021 and spring 2023 with a rebuilt auditorium, new public areas, a café, a glazed courtyard and a participation studio (Ateljén). The Hippodromen auditorium is flexible, with 350 to 600 seats depending on the staging. Intiman, a stage of about 204 seats in nine rows plus one wheelchair space, stands in the Teaterparken beside Malmö Opera at Östra Rönneholmsvägen 22. Studion is a black-box room on floor five of the Hippodromen building, normally about 50 seats, reached through the Teatercaféet. The theatre also runs a stage in Rosengård at Frölichs väg 4. The autumn 2026 programme includes Prima Facie, Gengångare, Sommarkvällar på jorden and Killar, with tickets currently sold out, and the theatre offers group discounts for groups of five or more.
