About this venue
Markeaton Park is a large public park on the north-west edge of Derby, owned and run by Derby City Council. Its history goes back to a medieval park, later enclosed as an 18th-century landscape park and opened to the public in the early 20th century. Today it has a craft village with the Orangery café, play areas, sports facilities, golf and meeting rooms.
The council describes Markeaton as its flagship park for events, and it hosts a number of high-profile outdoor events each year. Event organisers book it through the council's space hire team, which can also help with catering, technical support, event management, ticketing and marketing. In July 2024 the park hosted the first TK Maxx presents Derby Summer Sessions, three days of open-air concerts headlined by Becky Hill, Tom Jones and Madness, which Visit Derby said would host 15,000 people.
No fixed capacity is published for the park as an event site; it depends on the event plan agreed with the council.
