About this venue
Middlesbrough Theatre is a traditional proscenium arch theatre with 486 seats on The Avenue in Linthorpe, run by Middlesbrough Council alongside Middlesbrough Town Hall. It grew out of the Middlesbrough Little Theatre movement founded in 1930 by local amateur dramatic societies. Its programme mixes touring drama, comedy, operetta and local productions.
The theatre is available for hire, fully equipped with lighting and sound rigs and supported by in-house technical and front-of-house staff; dance schools and performing arts groups use it for shows. Backstage there is a green room and five dressing rooms for 4 to 10 people each, with showers on the first floor. There is no Wi-Fi in the building.
Visitors have level entry through automatic doors, an on-site car park with five Blue Badge bays, an accessible toilet in the foyer and a food and drink kiosk. The box office is open 10am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday.
