About this venue
Moomsteatern is a professional theatre in Malmö Folkets Hus at Nobeltorget that makes stage art with norm-breaking actors; its ensemble includes actors with and without intellectual disabilities. It began in 1987 as a study circle with Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan. The stage is on the entrance floor and the office on the third floor. The 2026 programme includes Frankenstein, made with Helsingborgs Stadsteater, with a sign-language-interpreted performance on 8 November. The auditorium holds a maximum of 152 (122 on the raked seating, 14 on the balcony and 8 wheelchair spaces, with 8 companion seats). The stage is 9 m wide and 11 m deep (5 m forestage, 6 m back stage) with a 4 m ceiling, rigging bars over the forestage and auditorium and a cross-connection system. For most of the year the stage is occupied, but when possible it is hired out for lectures, stage performances and film screenings; hirers e-mail their needs for a quotation. Tickets are handled through Kulturcentralen.
