Newcastle Arts Centre
Independent arts complex on Westgate Road housing art materials and framing shops, studios, hireable rooms and the Black Swan bar and performance space.
About this venue
Newcastle Arts Centre occupies a run of restored buildings on Westgate Road. It is an independent, working arts complex rather than a single auditorium: Details Art Materials, The Frameshop and The Craftshop trade on site, artists' studios and meeting and conference rooms are available to hire, and the centre is home to the North of England Art Club. The Assembly House at 55 Westgate Road forms part of the same estate.
Its licensed bar and performance space, The Black Swan, is in the basement, reached from Black Swan Court. Live music runs on selected evenings, including a jazz cafe programme on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
