About this venue
Normoria is Kristiansund's cultural house, at Kongens plass 6 in the middle of town. The name comes from the word that appeared for this stretch of coast on early Nordic sea charts — the house's own point being that where trade and a sheltered harbour once drew people to Kristiansund, it now takes something built to do the same.
Four institutions share the building: Operaen i Kristiansund, Nordmørsmusea, Kristiansund bibliotek and Kristiansund kulturskole. It describes itself as the meeting point for all four, and puts on performances, exhibitions, guided tours, classes and community events through the year, with a café. Among its rooms are Hauk Lillesal and the lower foyer, Nedre foajé.
No capacities are published for any of the rooms. The box office is open Thursdays 12:00-15:00, and the phone is answered Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00-15:00 on +47 70 23 90 01; both close for the summer. Enquiries to info@normoria.no.
