About this venue

Örebro Konserthus lies in the Kulturkvarteret area by the Svartån river. The original building by city architect Georg Ahrn opened in 1932 and also held the city library until 1981; a rebuild with a roof lift of about six metres for acoustics and a new entrance wing with the Foajén restaurant and stage was inaugurated in December 2015. It is the home of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, whose members all have practice rooms in the house, and it is run as a company that receives public funding through the regional cultural cooperation model. The programme spans classical music, folk, indie and pop, jazz and blues, rock, stand-up, children's and family concerts, ballet and club nights, in the Concert Hall, the Foajén stage, the Wirén hall and at the nearby Hjalmar Bergmanteatern. The house's stages are hired out regularly to external organisers, and the rooms can also be booked for meetings and conferences; the whole building can be hired for up to 1,350 people. The ticket office opens two hours before evening events, and other ticket sales go through the Kulturkvarteret ticket office at Fabriksgatan 4.
