About this venue
Penydarren Park is a stadium in Merthyr Tydfil that has been the home of Merthyr Town Football Club since 1909, making it one of the oldest continually used football grounds in Wales. Originally a Roman military encampment and later recreational ground with a cinder running and cycling track, it hosted the first Australian rugby league touring side in 1908-09 and greyhound racing from 1930 to 1960. A new 3G artificial pitch was installed in 2014 for all-weather, year-round use. The ground is owned by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and operated by Merthyr Town FC.
