About this venue

Prelaten sits in the basement beneath Agenturet in the Mackgaarden courtyard in the centre of Tromsø, and has been a cornerstone of the city's nightlife and culture for decades. Long listed as Prelaten Kro og Scene, it now trades as Prelaten Bar & Scene and is operated by Mack Bar AS as part of the Mackgaarden complex, alongside NYT Bar & Bistro and NYT Pizzeria & Enoteca. Around 150 events are staged here every year: live concerts, stand-up, club nights, quizzes and bingo. The room is divided into two zones — a stage area built for full energy, and a calmer space where you can sit down and talk. The kitchen serves burgers and bar bites and the bar stays open late. Recent and forthcoming bookings include stand-up nights with Ole Soo, Javal El Bakali and Jørgen EP, the Turistjævel run over several nights with both 18+ and under-18 performances, Rammeskjeiv X Langt Heimefra, Bøbben & Yogi, and KM Myrland's 50th anniversary with Isbål. Age limits vary by event, typically 18 or 20, with occasional under-18 shows. Doors are open Thursday 20:00-01:30 and Friday to Saturday 20:00-03:00; the venue is closed Sunday to Wednesday. Tickets are sold through Tikkio.
